This rare handmade dress is completely hand assembled from a mustard coloured silk devoré/ ‘burnout’ velvet. The piece has fabric covered shank buttons down the front and the cowl neckline has draped fabric with weights to hold the fabric down and epaulet-like bows at the shoulder. There is a triangle of fabric that falls down the back that give the illusion of a hood. The dress has a renaissance style about it. The piece was made by Jirina Kubankova cira 1960s.
CONDITION:
The piece is in good vintage condition without holes or stains. Due to its handmade nature and the fabric used, there are visible stitches from anchoring and altering the draping along with some fraying to the raw edges of the seams.
