The Christmas Party: A Model Designed by Faith Jacques, Edwardian Christmas Paper Dolls and Diorama, Cut Out Christmas Model, 1986
This hard to find 1980s set of cut out paper dolls is titled: The Christmas Party: A Model Designed by Faith Jacques. It was published in England in 1986. The package includes 6 high quality glossy printed 8 X 10 inch cards of cut out pieces, accessories, and characters in order to recreate the scene of a Edwardian family Christmas that is shown on the cover of the package.
There are 4 loose cards of cut outs that will take the shape of the walls and base of the stage, and 2 cards that include the characters and the decor and Christmas tree. Included in the package is a lengthy 4-page instruction pamphlet to help guide you through assembling the model.
The package is in excellent condition — there are no stains, tears, or creases to any of the cards or the instructions. The cards are stored in a plastic envelope — the envelope has some light damage in the form of small tears at the edge, but is still presentable should the model be given as a gift.
Please be warned that in true 80s publishing style accuracy was not always a priority. The cover art shows a glowing fireside background, but as you can see from the some of the picture, the background is not as hazy and is rather quite colourful and bright.
ADDITIONAL MATERIALS: please be warned that in order to assemble the pieces you will need to have some additional items on hand to cut things out and stick them together. There is an extensive list in the instructions that includes the following items: a glue stick, double sided tape, regular scotch tape, scissors, a box cutter, a pin, a ruler, a pen knife, and a cocktail stick (wooden skewer) for the Christmas tree. Reading the detailed instructions is as amusing as assembling the model :)
