Wedgwood Queen Elisabeth II Coronation Mug Designed by Richard Guyatt
Wedgwood Queen Elisabeth II Coronation Mug Designed by Richard Guyatt
This stunning large mug commemorates Queen Elizabeth II’s coronation in 1953. It features a stylized black transfer drawing of the lion and the unicorn from the Royal Crest holding the crown above the date framed by a gold border at the top and bottom. The handle continues the pattern and the words “God save the Queen” are written around the top of the inside of the mug. It is light and playful and very befitting the assensiom of a young Queen.
The integrity of the mug is in excellent condition, with no chips, cracks or crazing. There are some small inking flaws under the glaze from the layers of transfers not being centered and are shown in the pictures:
— on the inside “Queen” top of ‘Q’
— cross above crown
— around the leafy outlines of the heads of the animals
This design was created by Richard Guyatt and produced by Wedgwood.
